Post Subject: District Conference - Unique Experience of Fellowship, Frien

"Attending a district conference is the most enjoyable and rewarding privileges of Rotary membership," Clifford L.Dochterman (RI president 92-93).

District will only have a successful conference if one participates.

The conference is the most important meeting at the district level. The district conference could be considered as a miniature of RI convention at the district level.

Everybody connected with Rotary is encouraged to attend conference. Participation of spouses, children, Interactors, Rotaractors, Youth exchange students; GSE Team members make the meeting memorable and purposeful.

Up to date Rotary information, motivation and fellowship are the main ingredients of a balanced programme of the conference.

The timing of conference should not cash with council on legislation, international convention and the Rotary institute of the zone.

Guiding principle for ideal site of conference should be consideration of cost and convenience to attend with proper infra structure.

With the permission of the RI Board, two or more districts may hold the conference conjointly, but of course, not two years in succession. With the approval of the clubs and RI Board the conference may be held outside the district. RI bans onboard conference.

A good district will involve all the clubs of the district in conference programs and activities.

A good district conference will recognize new Rotarians, first time attendees, club presidents and incoming presidents.

It is desired by RI that entire membership of new clubs and all the newly inducted members from other clubs attend the conference.

RI president deputes to each conference a representative called RI president's representative, who is required to talk on three occasions during the conference. First address of 20 minutes on RI Theme of the year (no other theme should be highlighted at the conference), second address on the Rotary information (15 minutes) and Third address at the end for summing up (10 minutes).

RI Board requires that at least nine hours which should be devoted at the conference for Rotary topics, in the form of plenary sessions and group discussions.

To avoid monotony of the audience panel discussions, multi - media presentation, skits etc. can be held.

The district conference may discuss and pass resolutions relating to district projects, district dues and other financial matters, matters for consideration of RI Board and COL. In every conference of the year proceeding to COL, a representation to COL also must be selected elected.

Outstanding Rotary activity and outstanding Rotarians may be recognized at the conference.

In the voting for selection of governor nominee each club is expected to vote for only one candidate even if it has more than one vote and voting could be restricted to electors only.

The governor and the secretary of the conference prepare the report of the conference within 30 days of adjournment of the conference. Three copies of the report are to be transmitted to the General secretary of RI and one copy each to the clubs in the district.
